On October 17th, 2013 USA Today published and article in the opinion column by Bob Billings named Congress Makes A Deal Leaving Losers On Each Sides. In this article Billings quotes both republicans and democrats comments that were said after Congress finally managed to strike a deal. Most of them agreeing that nothing was really fixed and the taxpayers are the ones who lost and will continue loosing in the future. Even though this is a brief article Billings could NOT have pointed out the obvious any better.
He argues that no matter how much the American public complains about our elected senators and representatives the real opinion is heard in the ballot box. The sooner everyone gets in tact with Billings observations the sooner we can pick this country back up and move forward. I completely agree with Billings reasoning and most of the comments that he quoted. I believe that nothing positive was gained by this shutdown but to give each parties a chance to campaign on it while pointing fingers. While the same cycle occurs where we vote in those same people we hate so much and accomplishing nothing once again.
I believe Billings intended audience is everyone who is in need for a change no party preference. Every problem the government faces all point to the same thing, it's time to try something new. America needs someone who will care for the public and stand for what really needs to be done. This whole shutdown didn't solve a problem just interfered with progress and got paid two weeks worth while doing it. We need to get those out of office who aren't willing to do for us while getting in the way of those are trying to lead us in the right path.
