On September 20, 2013 Washington Post's opinion writer Kathleen Parker published an article named Waiting For Obamacare. In this article Parker claims that the Affordable Care Act also known as ObamaCare is just going to be too expensive in the long run and continue putting working citizens out of jobs or getting cut backs from their hours. She claims that the middle class Americans will be the ones who will be hurt the most. Using polls, and news letters Parker shows evidence that the number of people who favored the A.C.A. has decreased by 12% since January. It is obvious that Parker's intended main audience are republicans she writes a twice weekly column on politics and culture. I have to disagree with Parker on many things I think if everyone does their part ObamaCare could be a great success for this country not only health wise but financially as well. Everyone should be able to afford health care and be able to go to the doctor regularly. Parker sees nothing special about 26 the age a student will be able to stay on their parents health insurance. I believe it' s a perfect age. Gives the student more than enough time to get a degree and move on to eventually get their own health plan. One less stress a student has to deal with. Although some companies have cut back employee hours to part-time status to avoid giving them benefits in anticipation of the 2015 employer mandate. Companies like America's largest employer Walmart have decided to embrace the law moving 35,000 part-time workers to full-time and covering them and their partners. Most small businesses will get access to cheaper health plans, get tax breaks and will not be responsible for the employer mandate. Sadly Americans are giving up on the ObamaCare but it is because no on knows what it can actually offer and bring to the table. Jimmy Kimmel sent out his camera crew to ask people what did they support Affordable Care Act or ObamaCare and most of them said they supported ACA because it was "affordable" and ObamaCare had too many restrictions. After asking 17 people one finally pointed out they were the same thing. Proving that most Americans don't know what the hell they are talking about and like i said before if everyone plays their part it could work. Polls have shown that the more Americans know about the law the more they like it. It's people like Kathleen Parker whose opinion influences people to think negative about the Affordable Care Act.
